Summit, a daily Calcudoku

Fill 1 to N so every cage hits its number

What it is

Summit is Doppit's daily Calcudoku, the caged arithmetic puzzle. It climbs at No. 21. Every cell takes a number from 1 to N, the width of the grid, and every row and every column must hold each number exactly once. The diagonals answer to nobody.

Over the top lie outlined cages, each with a small demand in its corner. The numbers inside must hit that figure by the printed operation. The grid does the ordering; the cages do the arguing.

How it plays

The route card reads as follows.

The difficulties

Three ascents are roped daily. Easy is a four-wide grid of plus and minus cages, summited in thirty seconds to a minute. Medium is four wide as well and takes one to three minutes of sums and differences. Hard steps up to five wide and puts times and divide in the cages, three to six minutes with thin air the whole way. Expert is six wide with the same four operations, thirty-six cells to fill. A new board is fixed every day, and there is no guide fee. Expert is not fixed daily; it is rigged and left for practice.
